Indian Music is very important to Hinduism. Indian Music actually refers to an old music, a traditional one based on raga and a rhymthmic system called "tala". Raga is considered to be the melodic basis of Indian classical music. Indian Musical Instruments can be mainly classified into three categories: classical, western and folk instruments. There are wind, percussion and string instruments. The wind instruments are: bansuri (one of the oldest instruments in India), pungi, shehnai etc.. The percussion ones are: chanda, dhol,dholak,tabla etc. The string ones are: ektara, tanpura, sarangi, sarod, sitar, santoor etc.

Indian Music is very important to Hinduism. Indian Music actually refers to an old music, a traditional one based on raga and a rhythmic system called "tala". Raga is considered to be the melodic basis of Indian classical music. The sounds produced by Ghungru vary greatly in pitch depending on their metallic composition and size. Ghungroos serve to accentuate the rhythmic aspects of the dance and allow complex footwork to be heard by the audience. They are worn immediately above the ankle, resting on the lateral malleolus and medial malleolus.
